Breath Tube

On-site breath alcohol testing from Employer Solutions is the quick, convenient way to screen for alcohol use in the workplace. This non-invasive test, available in DOT-approved and non-DOT versions, provides fast, accurate results from just one deep breath. Results are visible in approximately two minutes. The easy-to-read indicator crystals change color if alcohol is detected.

In addition, our breath alcohol tests offer:

• - An extended shelf life (up to three years)
• - Storage at a wide range of temperatures (5°F to 125°F) and can be used instantly
• - No sensitivity to alcohol vapors in the air
• Available in 2 versions:
• - The DOT-approved screening device provides a qualitative result, indicating an alcohol level of 0.02% or greater.
• - The non-DOT screening device provides a quantitative result, measuring alcohol levels up to 0.08%.

Three easy steps for fast results

• 1. Squeeze the outer plastic sleeve with your thumb and forefinger to break the inner glass ampule containing yellow crystals. Use tester immediately.
• 2. Ask the donor to inhale deeply and blow into tube for 12 seconds with one continuous breath. Note: The DOT-approved version uses a plastic bag attached to the opposite end of the tube. The bag must be fully inflated in one breath.
• 3. Wait two minutes for results:
  • - DOT-approved version: Compare the color of the crystals with the positive and negative controls provided with the kit.
  • - Non-DOT version: Shake the tube to evenly distribute crystals. Compare the color of the crystals against the incremental 0.0%, 0.02% and 0.08% color scale on the tube to measure the level of alcohol.
